KUWAIT: The Ministry of Education will form a committee to investigate non-accredited certificates of some teaching members in the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and Kuwait University, said a top ministry's official.

The ministry will not accept such violations, and the committee is expected to come out with final results within three to four months, said Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Bader Al-Essa during the National Assembly's ordinary session yesterday. Meanwhile, the minister noted that the accused members will not be suspended until the committee has concluded the investigation, adding that the final report will be presented to the government to take action.

Government's performance

Lawmakers meanwhile gave their stamp of approval to a report by the National Assembly's Priorities Committee on the performance of the government. Consisting of three major parts, the report notes in the first part the government's abidance by the letter and spirit of the constitution and its willingness to work in close partnership with the parliament to achieve all that is needed for the benefit of the nation.

Moreover, the report drives the point home that the government is earnest about turning the country into a financial and commercial hub, able to attract investments through the combined efforts of the public and private sectors.

In the report's second part, it alludes to the government's commitment to promote national unity while providing the citizenry with the necessities of housing, education, health care, and programs for the youth.

It further underscores the imperatives for diversification of the nation's income, buttressing the private sector, creating job opportunities for young Kuwaitis, protecting the environment, and seeking lasting solutions for the issue of illegal residents. The report's third part deals primarily with streamlining the process of monitoring the performance of the government by adopting national and international indices. - KUNA
