KUWAIT: Competitions of the 11th Asian Airgun and 8th Shotgun Championships will kick off today at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, with 29 Asian countries represented by 369 shooters, 20 in clay target with 151 shooters and 26 airgun with 218 shooters. Kuwait is participating with 35 shooters, 21 in the shotgun and 14 in the airgun.

The first stage of qualifications begins at 9 am in the women's skeet as well as juniors who will shoot at 75 targets. Kuwait is represented by Sheikh's Al-Rashidi, Iman Al-Shamma, and Fatima Al-Zubi in the first round.

Official training for men and juniors in the skeet will take place at the same time. Kuwait will be represented by Mansour Al-Rashidi, Abdallah Al-Torqi Saud Habib, Hamad Al-Ablani, Ahmad Al-Awad and Saud Al-Hamly.

In the shotgun competitions the fight for the 10 meter events will start at 9:00 am and 11:00 am as the final round for men will take place at noon, while women will compete at 1:45 pm. Kuwait is represented by Abdallah Al-Harby Khalid Al-Majid and Sultan Al-Osaimi in the men's event, meanwhile Fatima Abdelmalik, Nuneera Al-Anjari and Zahra Al-Saffar in the women's.

Official training for the 10M airgun for juniors will begin at 2:00 pm and for female juniors at 3:30 pm.

President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations said, the technical meeting of the championships was held yesterday with the presence of all coaches and teams, adding that rules will be applied to all, as we are happy for the presence of large number of shooters from Asia. He said officials were informed about the importance of the success of this championship, and the concentration of juniors to make sure they have an effective participation. Shotgun technical delegate of the tournament Qatar's Abdallah Al-Hammad, said he arrived in Kuwait three days ago and made sure all technical issues are ready. He lauded the preparedness of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex, adding that the Qatari team is ready for gold.
