KUWAIT: Fierce competition marked the final stages of the 13th Asian Shooting Championship until the very last day, yesterday which ended with South Korea’s Dae Kyu Jang winning the gold medal of the 25m center fire pistol men, individual event, followed by Thailand’s Pongpol Kulchairattana in second place and India’s Vijay Kumar third. While in the team’s competition Korea was first followed by India and Vietnam.

shootingIn his closing ceremony speech President of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federation Eng. Duaij Khalaf Al- Otaibi said, I am pleased at the end of the thirteen Asian Championship to extend our thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and the government for their support of Kuwaiti shooters, which contributed to the development of the sport of shooting in Kuwait in all fields.

We are proud that the State of Kuwait hosted the 13th Asian Shooting Championship and keep contacts with brothers and friends and strengthen links and cooperation with Kuwait Shooting Federation, and give the opportunity for shooters to compete fairly, which keeps development of the technical level of the Asian Shooting Sport. He added, “I thank all Asian countries who participated in the 13th Asian Shooting Championship that was held between 1-12/11/2015 despite the unfair and illegal decisions by the International Olympic Committee and the International Shooting Sport Federation. Those brotherly and friendly countries are: Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, S. Korea, Thailand, UAE, Uzbekistan, DPR Korea, China, Hong Kong, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Taipei, Vietnam in addition to Kuwait.”

Al-Otaibi also thanked the Asian Shooting Federation General Assembly for its decisions and support of Kuwait Shooting Federation Stand in this championship to get its right and the right of Asia and its shooters in distributing the quota places qualifying to Rio de Janeiro 2016, and we confirm that we will continue in taking the IOC and ISSF to court to get those quota places and get compensations for the damages and losses Kuwait Shooting Federation incurred.

Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, the Former President of the Asian Shooting Federation for his courageous and responsible stand by handing over the presidency of the ASC stop Sheikh Ali bin Abdallah al Khalifa in order to maintain the strength of Asia as well as Asian Shooting and the right of Asian Shooters in getting their quota places, and they have the right to take the IOC and ISSF for that purpose.

Al-Otaibi congratulated His Excellency Sheikh Ali Bin Abdallah Al Khalifa for becoming president of ASC and wish him all success in his new mission and confirm the continued support of KSF to him and to ASC. Special thanks to the Public Authority for Sports and its Chairman and Director General His Excellency Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and his deputies for their support of Kuwait Shooting Federation and providing all facilities they presented to ensure the success of 13th Asian Shooting Championship.
