KUWAIT: Doctors managed to remove a benign tumor weighing 16 kilograms from a patient's ovary yesterday. The patient, a 38-year-old Kuwaiti woman, complained from severe abdominal swelling and resorted to a public hospital to undergo a gastric toning surgery to lose weight, but she was told that the swelling was the result of a left ovary tumor.

Dean of the Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty at Kuwait Institute for Medical Specializations (KIMS), Obstetrics, Gynecology and tumor surgery consultant Dr Waleed Fahad Al-Jassar performed the surgery on the patient. Dr Jassar, who is also a Kuwait University professor, noted that the patient's womb was not removed during the operation, which was performed at Al-Salam Hospital yesterday.
