KUWAIT: Public security authorities carried out several security campaigns in Kuwait's governorates during the period between Jan 19 and Jan 27 by setting up 326 inspection points. The campaigns resulted in the arrest of 1,781 wanted people and violators and 517 people wanted on criminal, civil and absconding cases, in addition to 1,102 residency violators, while 97 were arrested over drugs cases and 433 for fighting. Meanwhile, 115 vehicles were impounded and 2,145 traffic citations were issued.

Kabd fight

Paramedics responded to a call about a fight in Kabd near the first roundabout, and two persons had to be taken to hospital - one was stabbed and the other was run over. Both were in critical condition.

Electronic passport

The Ministry of Interior's (MoI) Nationality and Passport Department began use of the pre-appointment service to issue the new electronic passport electronically through the ministry website (www.moi.gov.kw). MoI's relations and security information department said the nationality and passport department launched the service of making prior appointments through the MoI website, adding that the ministry increased the number of applications from 150 to 300. The department said the new mechanism is part of MoI's strategies that aim at saving time and effort, while providing a better service. It said that in cases of illness, arrangements are made for an employee to go the house of the person and get the information from him.
