Mourners pay final respects at Bayan Palace • Amir to take oath in Assembly

KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah extended his thanks and appreciation on Tuesday to top Kuwaiti officials for their condolences and sincere sentiments on the demise of late Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. HH the Amir thanked National Assembly Speaker Ahmad Al-Saadoun, National Guard Chief HH Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Sabah.

HH the Amir also expressed his thanks to ministers, MPs, citizens, editors-in-chief of local newspapers and media channels, civil society institutions and charitable societies. HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal stated that this reflects the depth of connections between the Kuwaiti people and highlights their devotion, wishing them all good health and wellbeing.

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal also expressed on Tuesday his sincere thanks and appreciation to leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, heads of brotherly Arab countries, leaders of friendly countries of the world, Secretary General of the United Nations and Secretary General of the League of Arab States.

He also extended thanks to the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Secretary General of the GCC, President of the Arab Parliament, Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Director of the World Health Organization (WHO), Director of the United Nations World Food Program (FAO) and the Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

He also expressed thanks to the Commissioner General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA), Director of the United Nations Development Program, all heads of organizations and agencies of the United Nations, all organizations of the League of Arab States, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the country and heads of institutions and charitable societies outside the country.

HH the Amir also extended his thanks to heads of non-governmental organizations for their sincere condolences on the demise of late Amir Sheikh Nawaf, whether by attending and offering condolences or via condolence messages, phone calls or statements. He expressed appreciation to these initiatives that embody the bonds of historical and close relations that bind Kuwait and all Arab and friendly countries, and to all international and regional organizations and agencies, as he wished everyone good health and wellness.

HH the Amir Sheikh Mishal will take the constitutional oath at a special session of the National Assembly on Wednesday as the 17th Amir of the State of Kuwait. On Monday, Speaker Ahmad Al-Saadoun called for the special session upon the request of the government in line with article 60 of the constitution. — KUNA
