KUWAIT: Director of the 'Afia' health insurance program at the Ministry of Health Dr Adnan Al-Rasheed announced that 22 retired women had given birth in private hospitals under the program in its first three months. Rasheed added that the total number of private hospital admissions using the system since its inception was 4,441, and that 1,727 patients underwent surgeries, in addition to conducting 8,750 MRIs and CT scans and 2,651 endoscopies.

Rasheed stressed the strict control of the mechanism used in providing the service to beneficiaries in various private sector hospitals. He added that regular inspection tours were in progress at all private hospitals and medical centers, in addition to using an online link concerning Afia users. Rasheed said Afia users can call the hotline 1811110 for any inquiries about the system or to file complaints.

New attorneys

The Supreme Judiciary Council issued a decision forming a special committee to interview new public prosecutor attorneys headed by the Public Prosecutor General Chancellor Dherar Al-Assousi. The committee will meet next week to set the conditions and set a date for a written exam.
