Foul play suspected in child’s death

KUWAIT: A four-year-old girl who was playing near a curtain in her home lost her life when she was accidently hanged with the curtain’s rope, according to preliminary investigations, but police did not rule out the possibility of foul play in the case. The child’s family rushed her to the hospital, where doctors attempted to revive her, but to no avail. The medical report said the death was a result of suffocation due to hanging, and there were rope marks on her neck, which raised suspicions. The body was sent to the medical examiner.

Juvenile beaten
A care home inmate complained against supervisors and an official at Dar Al-Khansaa in Salmiya, and it was found the reason behind his beating was because the complainant had a pack of cigarettes with him. An informed source said the inmate, 15, was beaten severely by the supervisors after they learned he had cigarettes. The source said the supervisors did not follow the rules of the home, which call for gradual punishment. The source said the child filed a case at the juvenile prosecution, but the administration threatened to return him to the juvenile administration if he does not drop the complaint.

Liquor possession
Airport customs officers caught a Turkish man with a bottle of liquor and a bag of marijuana, and sent him to the Drugs Control General Department.

Absconding maids
Residency affairs detectives arrested a bedoon man who ran an office that harbored absconding domestic helpers, and found 12 men and women in violation of visa regulations. Some of them were reported absconding.

KD 300 theft
A Syrian man accused an Indian domestic helper of stealing KD 300 from his flat during cleaning, and filed a complaint at Maidan Hawally police station. The Syrian said he brought an Indian woman to clean the house because his wife was ill, but when she left, he discovered KD 300 he had kept aside for rent was missing.
