KUWAIT: Drugs Control General Department (DCGD) officers found 35,000 grams of 'chemical'; a variation of 'Spice' (synthetic marijuana) with added chemicals, during an operation carried out yesterday, the Interior Ministry announced. Police also seized some chemical material that is used in making the drugs. The total value of the drugs seized is estimated at KD 700,000, the ministry said.

Fires

A family consisting of one man, five women, two domestic helpers and four children were rescued from a fire in their Oyoun home. Jahra occupational and Jahra fire stations responded to a call about a fire that started in the ground floor of a three-storey building.

Residents were on the upper floor and were rescued using fire ladders, as they suffered smoke inhalation, while two firemen complained of heat exhaustion. They were taken to Jahra hospital separately, fire broke out in a bus on Mutlaa road near the 26th kilometer mark. Jahra fire station responded and rescued the trapped people, as five of them suffered from smoke inhalation.

Fake office

Residency detectives busted a gang that ran a fake domestic help office and used it for vice activities. Detectives received information about two men, Arab and Asian, running a bogus office and using women for illegal activities. Police raided several apartments in Farwaniya where the two were arrested along with 41 Ethiopian women who were all in violation of the residency law. Separately, 28 violators of residency law were arrested in a Mahboula building.
