KUWAIT: The match between Bahrain's Najma handball team and Saudi Arabia's Mudar team gave the 38th Gulf Handball Cup winners a new excitement. The match ended in favor of Najma 33-26. The match was held at Sheikh Saad Al-Abdallah Halls complex on Tuesday. Najma are now on top of the first group with two points, followed by Mudar with the same number of points but with goal difference. Salmiya remain pointless in third place. In the first group, UAE's Aljazeera had their first win in the tournament against Muscat team 27-26.

Semi-finals Thursday

There will be no match on Wednesday. The semifinals will be played on Thursday when the first team of group one meet with second team of the second group. Also, the first team of the second group will meet the second team of group one, and the winners will play for the title on Sunday. The losers will play for third and fourth places on the same day. Meanwhile, Najma team goalkeeper Mohammad Abdelhussein congratulated the team's fans for their victory, adding "it was difficult to go through the first match against Mudhar team."
