KUWAIT: Kuwait Eighth Tennis Open Tournament will come to a conclusion tonight under the patronage of President of Arab Tennis Federations, as more than 50 players will be honored during the closing ceremony.

Tournament Director Abdelreda Ghareeb called upon fans to attend the closing ceremony and enjoy the final match between Mohammad Siddiq and Bijorn Renquest against Abdelrahman Al-Awadhi and Abdallah Al-Mukaimi Al-Ghareeb thanked all sports clubs for their participation in the tournament which contributed to its success and made it the largest in Kuwait as far as participation is concerned. He said we would have accepted more participation but the courts limitation kept us from that.

He said this tournament will be the nucleus of tournaments to be held at the New Tennis Center Courts at Sheikh Jaber Al-Abdallah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah International Tennis Complex, because such events are the basis for developing the game, as the player needs at least 50 matches locally, while it is only 10-20 currently per year.

Al-Ghareeb thanked Al-Yarmouk Sports Club for hosting the tournament, adding that the club has 9 courts which is the largest number among club's tennis centers in Kuwait.

Meanwhile player Sarah Behbehani won first place in the women's singles, defeating Dana Al-Fulaij 6-4, 6-2, and the U-11 boys singles Abdelwahah Al-Abdallah defeated Divianesh Tribati 7-5, 6-1. Meanwhile in the U-13 Satyanic Tripathy defeated Hassein Al-Shatti 4-6, 6-4 (3) while in the doubles Marlon Olakar and Jarcola Chowdry defeated Mohammad Tounaih and Zoran Dimitrivic with the score of 6-1, 6-0 in the pioneers doubles event.

In the men's singles Abdelrahman Al-Awadhi made it to the final match after defeating Nasser Abdelsalam with the score of 6-4, 6-3. Also Hassan Al-Mousa reached the final by defeating Dawood Hashim with a score of 6-4, 4-6 (6).

In the men's U-17 singles Essa Qaba Zard defeated Daniel Nammour 6-4, 6-4, while Ahmad Khamees defeated Bader Antar 6-1, 6-3.

In the women's U-18 Fareeda Al-Ayat defeated Celena Al-Samrani 6-0, 6-1, while Rena Al-Samrani defeated Ritaj Kareem 6-2, 6-3.

In the men's doubles semi final Abdelrahman Al-Awadhi and Rashed Al-Mukaimi defeated Tamim Al-Hallaq and Ghulam Rasoul 7-6, 6-3, and Mohammad Saddiq and Bejorn Renquest defeated Hassan Al-Mousa and Enam Khan 6-1, 6-1.
