KUWAIT: Farwaniya Hospital's deputy director Dr Mohammed Al-Rasheedi said the total number of patients the hospital's outpatient department received in 2016 was over 674,000, including 108,882 citizens during morning hours and 565,140 expats during afternoon hours. Speaking on the sidelines of a special ceremony organized by Farwaniya Hospital to commemorate the national and liberation days, Rasheedi hailed the efforts exerted by the hospital's medical, nursing and technical staff to provide healthcare round the clock. Rasheedi said Farwaniya Hospital receives the largest number of patients in Kuwait, adding 43,967 patients were hospitalized in 2016 and around 50,582 surgeries were done in the same period.

Fingerprint devices

Fifteen new fingerprint devices will be installed in various Ministry of Health (MoH) departments soon to join the 30 currently in service, said Najeeb Al-Awadhi, the general record department's manager. Awadhi added that the devices were monitored by CCTV cameras round the clock to make sure employees respect working hours, especially on days before and after vacations and holidays. He added that employees not showing up to work without due cause receive administrative inquiries and that strict measures have made the majority of employees show more commitment to working hours, starting form 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, as per Civil Service Commission (CSC) regulations.

Ramadan fundraisers

Three special teams were formed to follow up the execution of fundraising conditions during Ramadan, said Munira Al-Kandari, director of the charities department at the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor (MSAL). She added that each team consists of 10 members representing the commerce, awqaf, interior and social affairs ministries, in addition to the Public Authority for Manpower and Kuwait Municipality.

Resignation

Some members of the pilots' selection committee at Kuwait Airways, including the panel's chairman, resigned only two months after the committee was formed on Dec 5, 2016. The resignations came in protest over the executive committee's alleged interference in the committee's work. They also accused the executive committee of interviewing candidates applying for a job as pilots at Kuwait Airways jointly with a Turkish recruitment agency without notifying it.

Control room

Acting customs director Adnan Al-Qossaibi said the customs directorate has built a new control room at Shuwaikh Port to analyze incoming shipments' data and routes and meticulously check all imports.
