KUWAIT: The traffic department carried out several unscheduled campaigns around the country which resulted in issuing 71 traffic tickets, impounding 59 cars and seven motorcycles and arresting 50 violators. The campaigns covered the Arabian Gulf Road, Maghrib Street, Ibrahim Al-Muzayen Road and Jahra Road, the relations and security information department said in a statement.

Fugitive caught

A citizen convicted and sentenced to five years in jail disturbed his neighbors and caused problems, so Jahra detectives ambushed him in a Farwaniya stable and sent him to the sentences implementation department. The suspect bothered residents until they got fed up with his antics and called police. The suspects used to fight for no reason and disappeared during daytime. The arrest was made following stiff resistance.

Drug possession

Jahra detectives arrested an Egyptian man who became popular among the youth for selling shabu, and sent him to the Drugs Control General Department. The suspect provided addicts with drugs and changed delivery locations several times before he actually handed over the drugs. Detectives placed him under surveillance until they found where he delivered the drugs. An undercover agent was then sent to him to buy 100 gm of shabu. The suspect changed the delivery site three times before he was arrested red-handed. In other news, coastguards arrested a citizen with 58 pieces of hashish, 25 bags containing 50,000 psychoactive pills and one piece of opium. He was sent to concerned authorities.

Suspicion of malpractice

Investigations are ongoing with a female citizen, an officer and two policemen at Salmy border outlet's passport office following the discovery of manipulation in the movement of a female citizen. A security source said the supervision department filed a forgery complaint at Salmy police station related to documenting the movement of the 51-year-old citizen.
