After meeting the president in Amman, Ambassador Aziz Al-Daihani said Abbas also praised His Highness Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a wise Arab leader. Amid their talks, the president said he was extremely grateful for Kuwait's ongoing support to the Palestinian people and its global endeavors aimed at defending their rights. The ambassador had conveyed the greetings of Kuwait's leadership and its people to the Palestinian president, and underlined Kuwait's commitment to the "primary and fundamental" Arab issue. Last year, Kuwait thwarted a United Nations Security Council draft statement condemning Palestinian resistance in Gaza. Kuwait's representative at the Security Council Mansour Al-Otaibi also presented a draft resolution aimed at the protection of Palestinian civilians in Gaza and the West Bank, which gained unanimous approval, only to be vetoed by the US. - KUNA
