KUWAIT: Education Minister Hamad Al-Adwani affirmed the Council of Public Universities will continue to implement its objectives in providing the basic necessities of higher education at a steady and deliberate pace by supporting educational institutions and developing the higher education system to prepare young nationals to become active members who enjoy competitive and productive capabilities of the workforce, in order to achieve the greatest possible developmental impact towards achieving the 2035 vision of Kuwait.

"The council discussed several issues, including forming a committee to select the university's director, the conditions, criteria and procedures attached to selecting candidates for the position, and approving the announcement of the vacancy of the position at Kuwait University," Acting Secretary-General of the Council of Public Universities Dr Subieh Al-Mukhaizeem said.

"The council approved the draft budget of Kuwait University for the 2023/2024 fiscal year and mandated Kuwait University to take the necessary measures in accordance with the law. The council also approved the draft budget of Abdullah Al-Salem University for the 2023/2024 fiscal year proposed by the constituent board of directors and assigned them the Abdullah Al-Salem University to take the necessary measures," he clarified.

Mukhaizeem also stated that the council took necessary measures to ensure the achievement of the state's goal for Abdullah Al-Salem University to receive the first batch of high school students for the 2023/24 academic year. He added the founding board of directors of Abdullah Al-Salem University was assigned to submit a report on the detailed steps to establish the Abdullah Al-Salem University, including the mission, vision, goals, academic study, study programs and specializations that the university will offer in the 2023/2024 academic year.
