KUWAIT: "Aboodka" handicapped basketball team became champion of the first wheelchair local basketball tournament, which concluded on Tuesday night at Kuwait Handicapped Sports Club.

The final match was attended by the honorary president of the club Al-Sheikha Sheikha Al-Abdallah Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of Youth Affairs Ministry Sheikha Zain Al-Sabah, club deputy president Nasser Al-Ajmi, Secretary General Abdallah Al-Azmi, Treasurer Saad Al-Azmaa, as well as tournament sponsor Abdallah Al-Jasser.

Aboodka defeated Lakers 44-42 in a very exciting and competitive match and was decided with the final whistle. Third place went the Olympic team which defeated Tahreer 55-49.

Best player cup went to Mohammad Hawash, scorer Mohammad Al-Ghareeb. Club treasure and tournament director Saad Al-Azmaa said the tournament was of a good technical level, during which several promising players were discovered and may join the national team.

He said the tournament that was organized on the occasion of Kuwait's celebrations of its national, liberation days and the 12th anniversary of HH the Amir ascension to power, was a good opportunity to prepare tournament to be held in Jordan in March.
