KUWAIT: Residency affairs detectives busted a fake recruitment office that used absconding domestic helpers to provide nursing services, the Interior Ministry's relations and security information department said yesterday. Information was received about a Bangladeshi man who hired absconders as nurses and provided them with uniforms. He also signed contracts worth KD 600 per month with citizens, using official papers and stamps from the company he worked for. A driver was arrested with a one of the fake nurses, and both confessed to be absconding. The Bangladeshi man was later arrested with the contracts and receipts. Meanwhile, residency affairs detectives arrested several Asian and African nationals for running a bogus domestic help office and engaging in prostitution. They were referred to concerned authorities.

Fake cops detained

Two men, Syrian and Lebanese, were arrested for impersonating detectives and robbing a man of his motorcycle, claiming it was in violation of the law. The two had drugs, a knife and an interior ministry flasher. Police saw the two trying to load the bike onto their pickup truck, who then escaped on foot, leaving the vehicle behind. Police were able to arrest them.
