KUWAIT: The
manpower authority suspended 16 files of fishing boat owners and summoned seven
others. It said this action comes in cooperation with the commerce and industry
ministry and the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources
with the situation in the fish market in mind, as boat owners refraining from
fishing negatively affects the fish market.

The authority
said it took the precautionary measure to guarantee no repeat of boat owners
and fishermen violating the law. It said it is keen on taking care of the
public's interests and maintaining stability in the marketplace. Separately,
three ruling family members complained against a Kuwaiti man and his son
allegedly for swindling them out of KD 350,000.

The suspects
received money from the complainants to invest it in real estate, but they took
the money and refused to return it, the plaintiffs told police. Both suspects
were arrested and are being questioned.
