
KUWAIT: Doha will host the opening round of Middle East Championship for rallies in the period between 4-6 Feb, 2016. In this regard, Nasser Al Attiyah President QMMF welcomed participants in Qatar International rally 2016 – the opening round of Middle East Championship for rallies 2016 – wishing them all the best of luck. He confirmed full readiness of the technical and administrative teams of QMMF for this important international event, evaluating the positive role carried out by QMMF in order to promote the motor sport in middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Al Attiyah stated that this rally is distinguished with many characteristics which are rarely found in other rallies. The most important one of them is that it comes the first round of each Middle East championship. “I would like also to take this opportunity to express my deep sincere gratitude for the support and permanent guidance of His Highness the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani and His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al-Thani – without whom this rally and many other achievements would have not been scored in Qatar. I would like also to thank all FIA representatives, sponsors, promoters, partners, organizers and friends for their ongoing contribution to the success of this event, once more welcome everyone in Qatar,” he added.
It’s worth mentioning that the registration for Qatar international rally will be closed at 6 pm on Friday (21/1/2016). QMMF has approved the final agenda of Middle East championship for rallies 2016 which will consist of 7 rounds with minor amendments in some dates – such as Kuwait rally 2 weeks later than 2015 schedule, as it will be organized in the last week of March 2016. Also Jordan international rally – 6th round for 2015 season will be organized in the first week of May (the 3rd round in the season), while Lebanon and Cyprus rallies will be the same as last year in September, and the same also for the final 2 rounds in this season (Oman and Dubai) in the 1st and 3 rd weeks of November 2016.
