Al-Barrack fined KD 3,000

KUWAIT: The court of appeal yesterday fined former MP Musallam Al-Barrak KD 3000 and acquitted him in a case accusing him of slandering the judiciary. Al-Barrak is serving a two year time in a state security case filed against him over a speech he delivered.

Drug suspect acquitted
A court yesterday acquitted a suspect who had been accused of drug abuse and discarded the charges because the suspect was a good son towards his disabled mother. The mother, who attended the hearing in a wheelchair, cried before the judge swearing that her son was the only one who looks after her on daily basis remarking that he was plagued with drugs. “Is he a good son with you”, the judge asked. “Yes, he is. He washes my feet everyday”, said the mother before the judge passed his verdict.

Fintas Group case adjourned
The criminal court yesterday adjourned the Fintas group case till April 11 so that the defendant attorneys could prepare their arguments.

Communication towers
Minister of electricity and water, Ahmed Al-Jassar recently signed a two-year contract to build special communication towers and lines at various control units with a cost of KD 10.79 million. The project aims at building a modern, smart, flexible and fast communication grid providing various services in controlling power plants and major power transfer units.
