KUWAIT: HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah hands the Crown Prince Cup to Qadsiya Club captain Saleh Al-Sheikh after Qadsiya beat Kuwait Club yesterday. — KUNA

KUWAIT: Al-Qadisiya Sports Club was crowned champion of HH the Crown Prince Cup 25th tournament for the 2017/2018 soccer season. This is the ninth time Al-Qadisiya becomes champion after beating Kuwait Sports Club 6-5 in the penalty kicks, as the match ended in a 1-1 in both the regular and extra time.

The sports community was honored with the patronage and presence of HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as he saw the match that was held at Jaber Stadium.

The first half of the match was technically of medium level with Kuwait being the better side and was able to score first through its player Hameed Mido in the 31st minute.

Meanwhile the second half saw Al-Qadisiya equalize through its substitute player Diago de Silva at the 84th minute and had to play extra time but none of them scored so they had to go to the penalty kicks to break the deadlock which Al-Qadisiya won marking the winning of its first title for this season.

The final match was also attended by Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Sheikh Faisal Al-Saud Al-Sabah, HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, First Deputy Premier, Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier, Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier, State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh, Ministers, Governors and high ranking officials.

Al-Qadisiya qualified for the final by beating Al-Arabi club by a score of 4-2 in penalty shootout, while Kuwait beat Al-Nasser by a goal in the 120th minute of their match as they were tied in regulation. -- KUNA
