KUWAIT: Football fans are all invited to the 9th annual Football Super Cup match between the two top sports clubs; Al Qadsiya and Al Kuwait, which will take place today (Friday) at 8:00pm at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium located on 6th Ring Road.

The entrance is free of charge and free food and beverages will be available for the public. A draw for valuable prizes including 5 cars and 15 tickets will be held before the start of the match along with other entertaining activities for kids such as inflatable football games which begins at 4:00pm. Furthermore, for the first time in global sports history, audiences can expect a spectacular para-motor air show and a remote-controlled air planes show within the stadium, along with a number of other surprises that promise a memorable day.

Entry tickets can be collected for free at the stadium on the day of the event starting from 2pm onwards. The annual one-match association football competition organized by the Kuwait Football Association (KFA) has long served as the season opener and is played between the Kuwaiti Premier League Champions and the Kuwait Amir Cup winners of the previous season.

Qadsiya Club are four-time champions of the Super Cup, while Kuwait Club won this title only twice before. This information was announced during the press conference held yesterday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. It was attended by the Qadsiya and Kuwait SC captain and coach along with other sports officials. Kuwait SC coach Lauren Bennett said that they are happy to have Firas Al-Khateeb playing with them. “We hope that the Qadsiya’s coach gets well soon. Our team has been training hard for over two months for this match. We hope to win this match, and we are glad that our team is completing in this celebrated competition. I believe that both teams have an equal chance to win this match,” he noted during the press conference. As the Qadsiya SC coach is sick, Gerry Minko, the goalkeepers’ coach replaced him during this conference. He stressed that both teams know each other’s abilities and preparations.

“We hope to overcome any obstacles including the absence of professional players, the injuries, and the financial crisis. I’m glad that we don’t have any problem with goalkeepers, and the three of them are ready. And of course I hope we win the match,” he pointed out
