Sheikh Sabah calls for unity, hopes for Syria peace, thanks local bodies

KUWAIT: HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah yesterday congratulated the Kuwaiti people and residents on the country’s 57th National Day and 27th Liberation Day. The Amir urged both to work harder to maintain Kuwait’s security and national unity, dedicating efforts and energies to carrying on the path of development and renaissance.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Sabah hoped the UN Security Council’s recently-adopted resolution 2401 on the humanitarian conditions in Syria would usher in a new phase toward realizing peace, security and stability in the country. HH the Amir highly appreciated the overwhelming feelings displayed by citizens and residents during the festivities held to mark the dear national occasions well-organized nationwide by various official and private bodies.

They have formed a “national epic” reflecting loyalty to the nation and crystalizing a “cohesive one Kuwaiti family”. The Amir highlighted the great efforts exerted by the ministries of interior and defense and the National Guard to secure a safe atmosphere for the celebrations. Thanks were also extended to official bodies that made arrangements for marking the occasions, topped with the national committee on national celebrations and the ministries of information, health, and education, together with the Kuwait Fire Service Directorate and the Municipality. They all worked harmoniously together and displayed Kuwait’s civilized image.

HH Sheikh Sabah recalled Kuwait’s martyrs who sacrificed their lives to defend the nation over the years. The Amir greeted leaders of the GCC member states for their countries’ participation in Kuwait’s national days, both on the official and the popular levels. He stressed the deep-rooted bond binding the bloc’s peoples together. Sheikh Sabah thanked leaders of the Arab and friendly countries for sharing with Kuwait its national celebrations.
