Sheikh Sabah receives GCC chief

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah meets with Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr Abdul Latif Al-Zayani. — KUNA

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable of congratulation on Sunday to President-elect Emmanuel Macron for his victory in the presidential election in France.

In his cable, His Highness the Amir expressed on his behalf and on behalf of the Kuwaiti government and people, his sincere sentiments and best wishes for securing the trust of the French people, praising as well historic ties between the two nations. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Hamad Al-Sabah both sent similar cables to President Elect Macron on the occasion.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem sent two cables of congratulations, one to French Parliament Speaker Claude Bartolone and the second to French President of the Senate Gerard Larcher. In his cables, Ghanem expressed best wishes over France's presidential elections.

In other news, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received yesterday at Bayan palace First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Hamad Al-Sabah and Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr Abdul Latif Al-Zayani.

During the meeting, they discussed the most important issues on the agenda of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC's) 17th Consultative meeting as well as GCC summit with the United States in addition to Arab-Islamic summit with the Unites States to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah. Separately, His Highness the Crown Prince  received yesterday Chief of the National Security Bureau Sheikh Thamer Ali Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah. - KUNA
