Fighting corruption

In a speech before the speaker's election, the National Assembly's elder of the MPs Hamad Al-Harshani said that applying the laws and terms of the Kuwaiti constitution and punishing those who violate the law are vital to create stability in the country.

Fighting corruption is a must to overcome the current unstable economic conditions in Kuwait, said Harshani in a speech at the National Assembly's first ordinary session of the 15th legislative term. He also stressed the need for immediate economic reforms to achieve development, and the importance of full cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities to provide better conditions for citizens and protect the law.

Harshani affirmed the important role played by the two authorities in determining Kuwait's international policy and develop cooperation with the Gulf countries. He noted that the current assembly will exert huge efforts to face the regional economic and security challenges that may affect Kuwait. Meanwhile, he spoke of unresolved issues facing Kuwaitis including health services, developing education and housing requests. - KUNA
