KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah yesterday visited the headquarters of the Kuwait National Guard General Chairmanship, where he was welcomed by the National Guard Undersecretary Lieutenant General Hashem Al-Rifai and senior commanders.

His Highness the Amir addressed the chiefs, officers and personnel, lauding them for proving that they are examples to be followed with respect to law abidance. He also recalled the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his support for the national security institutions, affirming that he would follow in his footsteps at this level.

"While I express appreciation for the National Guard and the personnel, I note my pride of the honorable national march of His Highness the gracious Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah, the Chairman of the National Guard, and I beseech Allah Almighty to bestow upon him speedy recovery and all health and wellbeing," His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf stated.

He commended the eminent role of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince, for the tangible efforts he had exerted during his service in the National Guard, where he sought to upgrade this national military institution.

Moreover, he expressed satisfaction for the National Guard's effective role and close back-up for the army, police and civilians in responding to the novel coronavirus crisis and taking precautions to curb the disease's spread, appreciating their unstoppable work to ensure continuity of operating vital installations during the lockdown as well as their skillful and meticulous role in this regard -- such is the deeply-rooted patriotic spirit among the Kuwaitis in the face of any challenges.



"As we highly admire the enormous efforts of the National Guard, we affirm our keenness on pursuing the support for this national entity to enable it fulfill the national duty in the best possible manner, beseeching Allah Almighty to guard us all for the goodness and service of our precious homeland, Kuwait," His Highness the Amir added.

Meanwhile, the National Guard Undersecretary expressed satisfaction on behalf of His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali and the personnel for His Highness the Amir's visit to the headquarters, also remembering the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad, affirming allegiance to Sheikh Nawaf and vowing unlimited devotion for action and service for the homeland.

Lt Gen Rifai also pledged to remain "on the path of sacrifices and faithfulness and utter devotion for Kuwait," also underscoring the National Guard's notable role in the fight against the coronavirus. He also wished His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali rapid recuperation.

Upon his departure from the headquarters, His Highness the Amir made some short remarks, wishing that His Highness Sheikh Salem Al-Ali could have been able to be present with the other personnel on the occasion, urging the personnel to persevere and act as a single person.
