Award strengthens the role of Kuwait's leadership in the field of the Holy Quran: Minister

KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah patronized and attended Kuwait's 10th International Award for Memorizing the Holy Quran at Bayan Palace yesterday. His Highness the Amir was received by Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Fahad Al-Shola, and members of the judiciary committee. The ceremony witnessed the attendance of Malaysian Speaker of Parliament Mohamad Ariff Yusof, Kuwait's National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem, Chairman of Kuwait's Supreme Judicial Council and the Cassation Court, President of the Constitutional Court, Justice Yousef Al-Mutawaa, Acting Premier and Minister of Defense Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and several top officials.

The award aims to strengthen the role of Kuwait's leadership in the field of the Holy Quran and to promote the role of institutions and organizations of the Holy Quran, Shola said. It also aims at defining the Islamic and Arab nation in Holy Quran readings and highlighting the role of the imams of readings and the sciences of the Holy Quran as well as encouraging the memorizers of the Holy Quran in studying the science of readings, he continued. The award also aimed at encouraging for more effort and time to memorize, recite and care for the Holy Quran memorizers from the young generation and highlighting the civilized part of Kuwait as a sponsor of the Holy Quran worldwide, he added. - KUNA
