KUWAIT: Kuwait University held a graduation ceremony yesterday for excellent students of the 2014-2015 academic year, under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Upon his arrival, His Highness was received by Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Bader Al-Essa, Kuwait University chairman Hussein Al-Ansari and the teaching staff.

The ceremony held for both bachelor degree and higher education students was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, top Sheikhs and the graduates' families.

Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education said that the ceremony comes in special times as Kuwait celebrates the National Day and the Liberation Day anniversaries. He praised His Highness the Amir's support for Kuwaiti students, who will play a vital role in society's development. He also mentioned His Highness' orders to establish the Sabah Al-Salem University City in Shadadiyah.

Meanwhile, he noted that Kuwait University is facing a challenge to receive the increasing numbers of students, adding that there are currently about 37, 000 students registered in 17 faculties of KU. The minister said that KU is taking measures to issue a law on establishing public and private universities in the country, to give students the opportunity to receive top-rated education in all fields. On his part, the university's chairman Hussein Al-Ansari said that KU has been exerting great efforts to provide the best education for society, adding that the university will celebrate its 50th establishment anniversary next November. KU has by now seen the graduation of 113,166 students, he also noted. - KUNA
