KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, patronized and attended the graduation ceremony of the 43rd batch of non-commissioned officers at Ali Al-Sabah Military Academy yesterday.

His Highness the Amir's motorcade arrived at the ceremony site where he was greeted by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Jarrah Al-Sabah, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Lieutenant General Mohammad Khaled Al-Kheder, the Defense Undersecretary Jassar Abdulrazzak Al-Jassar, the faculty chief General Mohammad Ahmed Al-Kheder and other commanders.

The ceremony was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanem, senior sheikhs, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Chief of the Court of Cassation and Constitutional Court Justice Yousef Jassem Al-Mutawaa, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Premier and Finance Minister and Acting Minister of Oil Anas Al-Saleh, senior State officials, a large group of students' families and citizens.

It got started with the National Anthem, followed with a token military parade signaling start of the actual graduation, then a demonstration by elite forces. His Highness the Amir distributed the awards to the top graduates. He later headed to the Amiri Hall where he was saluted by the faculty officers. And, a memorial award was granted to His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince.

Modern innovations

In an address at the ceremony, the faculty commander, Lieutenant General Kheder, expressed gratitude to the military and political leaders who contributed to enabling the faculty to stay abreast of modern scientific innovations, adopting latest combat techniques and doctrines. He also expressed gratitude to the officers, non-commissioned officers, educators and trainees.

He urged the graduates to remain faithful to Kuwait, His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince, shun sectarian or tribal affiliations and follow the ancestors' footsteps in preserving the homeland while being united. He also called on them to abide by guidelines of His Highness the Amir.

He renewed the pledge to safeguard the internal front as well as the homeland security and stability and renewed the pledge of allegiance to the top leaders, saying in part, "we promise that we will remain the protecting shield of our dear homeland and our Amir. "We will safeguard security and stability of the homeland so that the Kuwait Flag remains hoisted aloft under your sagacious leadership." - KUNA
