KUWAIT: Kuwait and Kyrgyzstan yesterday signed a host of bilateral agreements and a memorandums of understanding (MoU), covering various fields of cooperation. The signing ceremony took place at Bayan Palace, and was attended by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the visiting Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

The first agreement on exemption of entry visas for holders of diplomatic, service and special passports, was signed by First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldeav. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled and Abdyldeav also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for bilateral consultations between the foreign ministries in both countries.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Acting Oil Minister Anas Khaled Al-Saleh and Abdyldeav signed an agreement between the governments of both countries to avoid double taxation and evasion of income and capital taxes. The two ministers inked another agreement for encouragement and mutual protection of investments, and a third one for economic and technical cooperation. Meanwhile, President of Kuwait's Civil Aviation Fawaz Abdulazeez Al-Farah and the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldeav signed an agreement for air services cooperation.

Earlier, His Highness the Amir received the visiting Kyrgyz President along with the accompanying delegation, with attendance of His Highness the Crown Prince, on the occasion of his official visit to the country. Official talks were held between the Kuwaiti and Kyrgyz sides.

The Kuwaiti side was headed by His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness the Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, senior State officials. President Atambayev headed his country's delegation at the top-level talks. Deputy Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarrah Al-Sabah said the talks dealt with means of boosting bilateral ties and mutual cooperation, adding the discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere. His Highness the Amir also held a luncheon banquet in honor of the visiting Kyrgyz President and his accompanying delegation.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled received Atambayev, and the two sides discussed mutual coordination at various levels, regional and international issues of common concern. The meeting was attended by the Amiri Diwan Adviser, Mohammad Abdullah Abulhassan, Kuwait Ambassador to China Mohammed Saleh Al-Thuwaikh, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs Musaed Al-Thuwaikh and other ranking ministry officials.

In other news, His Highness the Amir received Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled and Tunisian Foreign Minister Al-Tayeb Al-Bakoush, who handed His Highness the Amir a letter from the President of Tunisia, Beji Caid Essebsi. The letter tackled bilateral relations between both countries and means of enhancing these relations in all fields. Later, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem met the visiting Tunisian Foreign Minister, and they discussed bilateral relations between both nations and the latest regional and international developments.

Early yesterday, His Highness the Amir received His Highness Sheikh Nawaf, Ghanem, His Highness Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, and Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Ali Mohammad Thunayan Al-Ghanem. Meanwhile, His Highness the Crown Prince received Speaker Ghanem, Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, Minister of Information, Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, and Acting Minister of Electricity and Water Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. - KUNA
