
KUWAIT: His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah attended yesterday a flag-hoisting ceremony at Bayan Palace, marking the 10th anniversary of his assumption to power, the 55th anniversary of National Day and the 25th anniversary of Liberation Day.
The ceremony was attended by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Speaker of the National Assembly Marzouq Ali Al-Ghanem, senior Sheikhs, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Minister of Amiri Diwan Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
It was also attended by First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance and Acting Minister of Oil Anas Al-Saleh.
In addition, ministers, senior state advisors and officials, and senior Army, Police, and National Guard officers were also present at the ceremony. The convoy of His Highness the Amir arrived at the Palace and he was warmly received by the army, police, National Guards as well as Kuwait Fire Service Directorate personals. His Highness the Amir hoisted the flag, followed by playing the national anthem.
Source of pride
The flag-hoisting day is one of the most glorious of nations around the globe for its great national meanings, governor of the Capital retired Lieutenant-General Thabit Al-Muhanna said. He made the statement yesterday during the capital’s flag-hoisting ceremony, marking start of celebrations of the 10th anniversary of His Highness the Amir Sheikh’s assumption to power, the 55th anniversary of National Day and the 25th anniversary of Liberation Day. This is an opportunity to manifest love to, and pride of Kuwait and His Highness the Amir, he added.
Similar ceremonies were held in the country’s other five governorates. In Al-Ahamdi, Governor Sheikh Fawaz Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, said the celebrations are a source of pride for all Kuwaitis and expats. He renewed the oath to His Highness the Amir to serve the country and the people.
Flag-hoisting enhances national unity and the spirit of belonging and loyalty to the country, Governor of Mubarak Al-Kabeer retired General Ahmad Abdullatif Al-Rujaib said in a press statement. He stressed the momentousness of further boosting unity among Kuwaitis for more security, safety and stability in the country.
These celebrations mark significant points in the history of Kuwait, Hawally Governor retired General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Sabah told the governorate ceremony. He added that Kuwait’s independence was the beginning of building a modern state.
Protecting the society
In Al-Jahra, Governor retired Lieutenant-General Fahad Ahmad Fahad Al-Amir reiterated the importance of national unity for protecting the society and its gains, and realizing progress. He reviewed some of the future projects planned for Al-Jahra, urging seriousness and hard work to achieve them.
Flag-hoisting is the best expression of pleasure over the 10th anniversary of His Highness the Amir assumption of power, Farwaniyah Governor Sheikh Faisal Al-Humoud Al-Malek Al-Sabah, said in a press statement.
