KUWAIT: Sheikh Mubarak Abdallah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Annual Chess Championship was concluded Friday April 7 - coinciding with The World Health Day as approved by the UN. The tournament was held at Sheikh Abdallah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Hall in Khaldiya. Tournament sponsor Sheikh Mubarak Abdallah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said - selecting the closing day to coincide with the World Health Day is to draw attention to the development of mental health and to provide time for fruitful thinking through games.

300 players participated in the event including 92 juniors from 16 Arab and foreign countries in the presence of families and large number of fans. Sheikh Mubarak was happy for the turn out. He said chess is the game of minds that do not need translation and contributes to motivate and activate mental abilities. Meanwhile, International Chess arbiter thanked all those who contributed to the tournament’s success. The two-day tournament had 9 rounds and each move took 10 minutes and 3 seconds. It was open for all nationalities. He also thanked Sheikh Mubarak for his interest.
