KUWAIT: The Arab Badminton Championship has kicked off under the patronage of Kuwait Olympic Committee President Sheikh Fahad Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah - in the presence of OC board member Sheikh Thamer Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Sheikh Jaber welcomed Kuwait's the guests. The first day of competition saw strong competitions by all teams from North Africa and West Asia - particularly the Jordanian team.

Egyptian Ambassador to Kuwait Usama Shaltout said "we are pleased to have the Arab Badminton Championship in Kuwait with strong teams participating. We laud the Egyptian performance and support the team." Assistant secretary at KOC, Head of Kuwait Federation, Deputy Chairman of the Asian Badminton Federation Ali Al-Merri said the Arab championship is a sports festival that brings brothers together.
