Arrest for spreading rumors on social media

KUWAIT: A citizen, suspected of spreading rumors and misinformation on social media, was arrested by police, the interior ministry said yesterday.

The ministry’s public relations department said the citizen committed illicit acts on his social media accounts, revealing 24 charges were filed against the suspect. The department warned that any individuals spreading lies through the Internet and similar mediums will be violating the law and their actions will be considered as cybercrimes.
