Kuwait National hockey team

KUWAIT: The Chairman of the Board of Kuwait Winter Games Club Fuhaid Al-Ajmi said Asia Ice Hockey Championship 2017 set to begin tomorrow in Kuwait will see the hoisting of Kuwait's flag in this continental sports event. Al-Ajmi, who also heads the organizing committee said the tournament is being held under the direct supervision by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IHF) and not under the International Olympic Committee.

Al-Ajmi said the tournament will be held under the patronage of Commerce and Industry Minister, Acting Minister for Youth Affairs Khalid Al-Roudhan and will continue until April 25th with the participation of Oman, India and Macao in addition to host country Kuwait. Al-Ajmi appreciated the limitless support from minister Al-Roudhan for the tournament and his aid in removing all and any obstacles to ensure its success and promote the game amongst Kuwait's youth.

Meanwhile participating teams will complete their preparations before the start of the tournament. Deputy Chairman of the Board of KWSG Khalid Al-Mutairi lauded the role of Public Authority for Sports which worked to ensure the tournament proceeds as smoothly as possible and have Kuwait's flag hoisted for the first time since the sports activities were placed under suspension.

He said PAS kept in touch with HOC in order to be informed about all requirements and worked "with us to keep everything in place. He said Kuwait organized the previous tournament and not only won it but kept the fans happy as well. We hope to see fans return to the stands to back their team to keep the cup in Kuwait. Al-Ajmi said Kuwait Ice Hockey National team held a training camp in Abu Dhabi during which the team played several matches, and preparations continued when they returned.
