OtaibiKUWAIT: The technical meeting of the 13th Asian Championship which includes the shotgun, air rifle and pistol was held yesterday at Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic shooting complex with the participation of 33 countries.

The meeting was chaired by President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations, Chairman of he Higher Organizing Committee, in the presence of Secretary General of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations Obaid Al-Osaimi as well as technical delegates of shotgun Abdullah Al-Hamadi and pistol and Rifle.

Eng. Al- Otaibi spoke at the start of the meeting about the HOC carrying out all the necessary arrangements to ensure the championship success, adding it will be carried out according to the international law and there will also be testing for doping.

Al-Otaibi stressed that the distribution of quota places is a definite right of Asia and Kuwait Shooting Federation, the organizer. Those present lauded all the facilities presented by HOC, and expressed their support to the Kuwait Federation to take all legal action to demand the right of Asia to distribute the quota places.

Meanwhile, there will be 7 gold medals distributed today in the men’s double trap, women’s 10m rifle, men’s 50m pistol and women’s 25 precision pistol. The double trap event will see strong competition as it includes the Rio Di Jonairo quotas. Official pre event training on the men’s 10m rifle, and 50m prone rifle, and women’s 25 rapid pistol will also take place.

Secretary General of Iraq Central Shooting Federation Dr. Mawaheb Hameed totally rejected the actions of the IOC and ISSF excluding the results of this championship from the Olympic quotas. She said the decision is highly unfair, and unrealistic to deprive an entire contenant from its rights, and reflects the confusion in both organizations. She said the Iraqi delegation strongly supports Kuwait stand to face the conspiracies being made against it.

Meanwhile President of Lebanon’s Shooting Federation Butrous Jalakh slammed the arrogant decisions of IOC and ISSF, and asked all Asian delegations to face such decisions that are made by irresponsible bodies who work like mafia principles. Jalakh said that he felt total rejection by all delegations to the exclusion of the results from Oylmpic quotas, adding that the decision carries with it personal attitudes and lacks professionalism in dealing with such events
