Despite the wave of modern construction in the past 25 years, several of the Lebanese capital heritage and traditional buildings still withstand the test of time. The buildings, dating back to the 19 and 20 centuries, have remained intact in spite of all that occurred throughout the history of the nation. Some 640 buildings, recognized by UNESCO, still stand tall even with occurrences such as the August fourth, 2020, Beirut port explosion. - KUNA
