KUWAIT: Kuwait archer Abdullah Yaqoub Malallah won the gold medal of the compound archery of the 13th Arab archery championship being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Archer Hanan Al-Mayyas won the ladies bronze medal.

Secretary General of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations Obaid Al-Osaimi expressed his and the board of directors’ satisfaction towards the archers’ achievements and raising Kuwait’s flag and playing the national anthem despite tough competition.

Al-Osaimi said archer Malallah was able to win gold following a tough match with Egypt’s Ahmad Fakhri who placed second while Iraq’s Mohammad Al-Kaabi was third.

Meanwhile, Al-Mayyas’ win came at the expense of Iraq’s Fatima Mashadani who won gold and UAE’s Amina Al-Awadhi came second. He said the team of Abdullah Malallah, Ahmad Al-Shatti and Bader Al-Shilahi won the bronze, the Saudi team won gold and Iraq won silver. The mixed team of Abdullah Malallah and Hanan Al-Mayyas won bronze, while Iraq won gold and UAE won silver.

Al-Osaimi dedicated the achievements to HH the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who continually care for and support Kuwait athletes motivating them to make more achievements for Kuwait.
