KUWAIT: The Kuwaiti Cabinet yesterday applauded His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah’s recent message to National Assembly members, which contained noble meanings and wise directives. This came in a press statement by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah following the cabinet’s customary weekly meeting.

During the meeting, the ministers addressed the contents of His Highness the Amir’s message conveyed by the National Assembly’s Speaker to the members, which stressed national unity and firm internal front, the minister said. The message included emphatic rejection of sectarian, tribal or factional groupings, and of sentimental response to the Gulf crisis, while underlining the significance of stopping all political and media tensions in this regard, he added.

It also spotlighted Kuwait’s ceaseless efforts to heal up Gulf rifts, and the important constitutional role of MPs, and emphasized national unity, awareness and wise response to existing challenges, Sheikh Mohammad noted. Also during the meeting, the cabinet hailed the noble meanings and wise directives of the Amiri message, especially under the current regional circumstances, while urging cooperation between both executive and legislative authorities in order to ensure national security and stability.

The cabinet pointed out the full interaction of the assembly’s members with the Amiri message, and their eagerness to support His Highness the Amir’s wise leadership just out of their belief in the significance of this message and due to the existing challenges that require ensuring unity, prioritizing public interest, and strengthening and safeguarding democracy. On November 7, National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem delivered a message from His Highness the Amir to members of parliament regarding the swift regional developments. The message stressed the necessity of keeping national unity stronger and national front firmer, and decried all sectarian, tribal and factional tensions. —KUNA
