KUWAIT: Two Arab men were recently arrested for using several civil IDs of expats who had already left the country to purchase mobile phone lines and sell them for high prices to inmates of the central prison, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a citizen had reported that the two suspects, who worked for him in a mobile phone store, had committed several financial violations and resold mobile lines for more than one person. On arresting the two, they admitted to committing the crimes and explained that they used over 25 civil IDs they had in registering the lines under the names of people who had left Kuwait for good. They added that a Ministry of Interior employee they knew had been providing them with information about the ID holders so that they could register the lines and resell them to inmates.

Man shoots up brother's house

A citizen was recently arrested in Jahra for attacking his brother's house with a gun, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a citizen called the police reporting that his brother had attacked his house pointing a gun at him. The citizen provide the police with his brother's information but when policemen arrived at the man's house, he escaped and was later found hiding among some vehicles where he was chased on foot and apprehended. A case was filed pending further investigations.

Wanted man in roundabout

A citizen was recently arrested in Saad Al-Abdullah area for reckless driving around a roundabout, said security sources. They noted that when detectives rushed to the scene and arrested him, they found that the vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen and that the man had a criminal record and was wanted on eight separate cases.

Forger arrested

An Asian man, who had been wanted for forgery, was recently arrested in Khaitan, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a police patrol noticed that the suspect ran away on seeing it but he was chased and apprehended. Upon checking, policemen found out that he was wanted for a forgery case. The suspect was referred to criminal investigators pending deportation.

Vehicle thieves busted

Two citizens were recently arrested in Sulaibiya industrial area for smashing vehicles' windows and stealing their contents. Case papers indicate that a police patrol arrested the suspects red-handed while they in the process of smashing a car's window. A case was filed and the suspects were referred to relevant authorities.

Officer insulted

A citizen and his wife were recently charged with insulting and threatening a public officer on duty, said security sources. Case papers indicate that a traffic policeman reported that on ticketing a woman, she insulted him and called her husband who arrived at the scene and asked about the reason of the ticket before he threatened to 'show' the policeman once he was 'out of uniform.'
