Mijbel AlQattan, CFA President

KUWAIT: CFA Society Kuwait, CFA Institute’s local association of investment professionals consisting of portfolio managers, financial analysts and investment advisors, has announced the appointment of its new board of directors. Mijbel AlQattan, previously the society’s Vice President, was appointed by the newly elected board of directors to take over the role from previous President Rafik Hafez.

The new board, consisting of top professionals from within the local finance industry, reflects both CFA Institute and CFA Society Kuwait’s mission of raising professional and market standards to support the growth and development of the country’s investment sector. The new members of the board are: * Mijbel AlQattan, CFA, President * Mohammad AlSarraf, CFA, Vice President and Treasurer * Alaa Abdelrahim, CFA, Secretary * Anuj Tewari, CFA, Board Member * Hargurmit Singh, CFA, Board Member * Robin Bhattacharya, CFA, Board Member Commenting on his new role, Mijbel AlQattan, CFA, President of CFA Society Kuwait said: “I am honoured to be elected as President of CFA Society Kuwait and look forward to working with the newly elected board, our members, local government entities, regulators, education institutions and the country’s top firms as we continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in Kuwait’s investment community.”

He added: “Our priorities for the next year are to continue to serve our members’ needs through the delivery of high quality, professional programs and to support global initiatives geared towards investor education, investor protection and ethical investment practices. We have also been proactive in helping aspiring young investment professionals attain the prestigious CFA Charter, which is recognised as the gold standard investment qualification around the world.” AlQattan received his CFA Charter in 2009 and has served CFA Society Kuwait in various roles, including Vice President and Advocacy Chair.

He is a Senior Investment Manager with Impulse International for Telecommunications. “I would like to take this opportunity to thank the previous board and especially Rafik Hafez, our previous society President, for all his hard work in making it such an important component of the financial community over the past years. He will remain an important part of the work CFA Society Kuwait will continue to do,” concluded AlQattan. CFA Society Kuwait was founded in August 2008 and currently has over 100 members
