Diabetic Foot Care

KUWAIT: An awareness day on chronic wound management and diabetic foot care was held at the Avenues. "Care for the foot is of immense importance for diabetics. Diabetic foot clinics receive many cases every day, an average of 43 cases - Amiri Hospital receives 35 cases during mornings and 15 during the evening," said head of Kuwait Society for Wound Management Dr Ghada Ibrahim.

The awareness day was held with the participation of an integrated team of specialists from the Diabetic Foot Care Society, which is under the Kuwait Medical Association. "Health awareness has become widespread lately with good results and has reduced amputations from 15 cases in 2009 to only six in 2017," Dr Ibrahim added.

During the event, plastic surgeons from Babtain burn center led by Dr Qutaiba Al-Kandari and blood vessels laboratory specialist at Adan Hospital Dr Ahrar Al-Husseini along with orthopedic specialists and physiotherapists were at hand. Director General of Bader Al-Sultan Company, which sponsored the event, Emad Al-Zibin said: "The awareness day was up to expectations, and awareness brings good results, so we always attempt to spread awareness in the entire country."
