KUWAIT: Several citizens found themselves victims of a fraud by committed by a 'leader' at Kuwait municipality and lecturer at the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) when he sold them plots of land in Saudi Arabia that could not be legally transferred to their names. The cheating came to light only after they paid large sums of money to the tunes of KD 17,000 for each plot in certain cases.

A security source said that a police station in Farwaniya governorate lodged a complaint against the suspect for selling non-transferrable plots of land to citizens in Saudi Arabia due to legal issues.

Threatened

A citizen told the Bayan police that a Jordanian expat threatened her during a phone call between the two. She also said that a Jordanian woman insulted her verbally at her home. Police placed the Jordanians names on the wanted list for questioning.

Expats arrested

Two Jordanians were detained in Maidan Hawally for exchanging blows. A security source said a Jordanian went to Median Hawally police station and told them that his nose was broken by another Jordanian. The  latter was summoned but in turn claimed that he was beaten. So both were jailed at the orders of Hawally prosecutor for questioning by her.

Driver robbed

Hawally detectives are working on identifying four persons, accused by a driver of robbing him of KD 48 at knife-point. The Bangladeshi driver went to Rumaithiya police station and told them that four persons stopped him near a hotel. As soon as they got in the car they pulled a knife and asked for money.

Ammunition dealer held

Jahra police sent a citizen to criminal detectives for possessing ammunition for what seems to be for sale. He will also be sent later to Drugs Control dept for questioning in a drugs-related case. The suspect is also wanted on a KD 450 civil case. The man had 2,643 bullets in his possession when he was arrested.-Alrai, Al-Anbaa
