KUWAIT: The activities of the three-day conference kicked off Sunday morning on climate and environmental changes and their impact on humans, organized by the Environmental Technology Management Department at the College of Life Sciences in Kuwait University, in collaboration with the International Organization for Women Empowerment and Capacity Building.

At the opening of the conference, Acting Dean of the College of Life Sciences at Kuwait University Dr Ayed Salman said in a speech that environmental issues are among the topics of importance that receive international and local thoughtfulness, therefore Kuwait contributed in a vital way to support these projects and adopting environmental laws to achieve sustainable development in society.

The relationship between the environment and society is an organic and reciprocal relationship, as during olden times the environment impacted society and provided it with natural resources for life, however after the industrial revolution, the impact of humans on the environment, where resources were consumed in addition to environmental pollution, swayed to climate change, he indicated.

With the emergence of modern era challenges, including environmental security, this conference comes as an academic attempt to find out the apparent perception of the relationship between the environment and society, he added, urging the participating academics to provide recommendations that contribute to achieving environmental sustainability.
