KUWAIT: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah said on Thursday that the Coast Guard sector is to be equipped with a highly-advanced system of marine boats and cruisers in the forthcoming months to improve the sector's performance. Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khaled made his remarks following an inspection tour of the sector's center in Umm Al Maradim Island. He was accompanied by MoI's Undersecretary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad and a number of senior security officials, the Ministry's media department said in a statement.

The minister praised the efforts of Coast Guard's officers and personnel to preserve the safety and security of the country's coasts, pointing out their efficiency in dealing with various security developments. Meanwhile, Assistant Undersecretary for Marine Borders Affairs Maj-Gen Zuhair Al-Nasrallah made a detailed presentation on the sector's most highlighted services, security system, and future plans in facing smugglers and intruders into the country's marine borders and islands. Al-Nasrallah also mentioned that the marine borders security sector has seen a significant improvement in recent years, pointing out a number of signed agreements to build advanced boats, some of which are already active and in use. - KUNA
