KUWAIT: The Municipality's PR department said Mubarak Al-Kabeer municipal branch carried out several field tours to make sure company licenses are valid. Director of the safety department Maisaa Bushehri said that a citation was issued to a company that used land belonging to the state covering 2,801 sq m for temporary offices and storage, adding it was fined KD 130,000.


Hajj room bookings
The awqaf ministry denied claims in newspapers and social media about suspicions over hajj room bookings. The ministry denied 60 rooms were reserved but not used, adding that all rooms were occupied (100 percent), as the number of employees in the hajj mission is 263. It said several meetings were held with concerned ministries and rooms were booked accordingly, then the finance ministry, Central Tenders Committee, Audit Bureau and the fatwa and legislation department were informed for approval.


Turkey test centers
Health Ministry Undersecretary for Public Health Dr Majida Al-Qattan, member of the central committee for examination of technical labor in Gulf countries, said 12 testing centers were visited in Istanbul to evaluate them in order to test workers desiring to work in Gulf countries. She said that recommendations were sent to the labor examination and central committee at the GCC Health Council for approving the centers.


Educational charity fund
An educational source said 17,875 students are benefiting from the charity fund for the 2018-2019 school year in the three educational stages, including 15,449 bedoons and 2,426 expats. The source said the fund's budget last year was KD 6.796 million to provide education to needy children.


Consumer protection societies
The commerce and industry ministry issued a decision allowing the establishment of consumer protection societies, and a technical secretariat was created for this purpose. The decision stipulates that the number of founding members should be a minimum of 50, members should have been involved in voluntary activities in this field and should not been convicted in honor and trust crimes.
