DNA to be conditioned for doing transactions

KUWAIT: A committee headed by General Investigation Department’s Director Major General Fahad Al-Doussary is currently working on the final copy of the executive chart of the DNA profiling law number 78/2015 pending its referral to the cabinet for approval, informed sources said.

The ongoing discussions on the law’s regulations included linking all citizens and expatriates’ transactions with their DNA profile, the sources added. However, the sources remarked that more flexible regulations were being considered in order to encourage citizens and expats to have their DNA data filed, knowing that this data will only be used for security reasons and with utmost confidentiality with the sole purpose of protecting national security.

The sources also noted that visitors’ DNA data would be taken immediately on entry to Kuwait. —Al-Anbaa
