KUWAIT: A driver narrowly escaped death when his vehicle landed on the edge of a bridge following a two-car collision reported at the First Ring Road in Sharq on Saturday. Firefighters accompanied by paramedics and police headed to the scene in response to an emergency call, and immediately rushed to save a driver whose vehicle was suspended on top of the bridge's side barricades, with part of it hanging to the outside. The man was successfully rescued then rushed to Amiri Hospital for treatment. An Interior Ministry statement later explained that the fact that the driver was wearing his seatbelt might have contributed to saving his life. No other injuries were reported. An investigation was filed to determine the cause of the accident.

Slander

The criminal court yesterday sentenced a female blogger to seven years is jail with hard labor in a case filed against her over charges of slandering Saudi Arabia and circulating false news.

Fire

A fire broke out in a garment warehouse located in the basement of a Hawally shopping mall yesterday. Firemen evacuated the entire building, including the parking lot which is located in the same basement where the warehouse is placed. The fire was put out and no casualties were reported.

Crackdown

Kuwait municipality launched an awareness campaign with the aim of promoting public awareness about camping conditions. Jahra municipality teams conducted an inspection campaign to remove illegal camps pitched off the allocated camping zones along Salmi highway. The campaign resulted in removing six camps, three grocery trucks, two cabins and two ice vending trucks, said Nawaf Al-Mutairi, head of the inspection team.
