KUWAIT: The Cabinet yesterday asked the roads authority to prepare a full report on the railway project, the Cabinet's Secretary General Abdullatif Al-Roudhan said. In a letter he sent to the Minister of Municipality Affairs, Roudhan said that the Cabinet issued a decision on Oct 16, 2017 on having the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) coordinate with the finance ministry and other relevant bodies on taking all needed measures to remove any obstacles in the railway route as well as the possibility of compensating landowners on this route.

National labor

The Fatwa and Legislation Department won a case filed against a local company for not paying the national labor support taxes, said the department manager Chancellor Salah Al-Masad, noting that the court order was the first of its kind and that the same procedures would be followed in all similar cases to help protect public funds. "This tax is a sovereign resource that ought to be protected and prioritized." he underlined. Notably, the comprehensive court sentenced the local catering company to pay a sum of KD 57,716 in taxes plus compensation of KD 10,000.

Overcharging

Hajj affairs manager Mohammad Al-Aleem announced the opening of registration of hajj convoys till Thursday. He also noted the Awqaf Ministry is studying the next season's prices to prevent overcharging, and will exclude any overpriced convoys. Aleem said prices will be set according to the services provided hotels or apartment buildings. Aleem added that the ministry asked Saudi authorities to issue 1,000 hajj visas to bedoons before the season begins. He also warned against using the services of illegal and unlicensed convoys advertising their services on various social media networks.
