KUWAIT: Egyptians who had gathered at Green Island to be transported to their embassy to cast their votes got involved in a fight. A policeman attempted to break up the fight and organize traffic, but one of the transport supervisors refused to obey instructions and insulted the policeman, so he asked for backup. When an officer approached the supervisor, who is an embassy employee, he was pushed back to the patrol car. The people that were fighting each other then turned on the police cars and threw water bottles and soda cans at them. Interior Ministry Assistant Undersecretary for General Security Abdelfattah Al-Ali went to the scene and found the supervisor did not have authorization from the embassy. Meanwhile, those who started the fight fled the scene.

Thief asked for password

A thief who stole a phone of a citizen in London was able to find her local number in Kuwait and sent her a message asking her to give him the password to be able to use the stolen phone. The woman, who got a replacement SIM card, ignored him, so he started sending her messages from two Egyptian numbers. The woman went to Adailiya police station and filed a complaint, and electronic crimes detectives are working on the case.

KD 4,250 cheque destroyed

An owner of a cleaning company accused an official at a security company of tearing a KD 4,250 cheque at the company premises. The cleaning company owner went to Nugra police station and lodged a complaint. He said a dispute took place while signing a contract, and the cheque was torn.

Online theft

A thief withdrew KD 620 from the account of a Syrian through the Internet, so filed a complaint at Salmiya police station. The Syrian said he received an SMS telling him about the withdrawal of KD 620 in two transactions, so he called the bank and suspended the account. Criminal detectives are investigating.

Egyptian accused of insult

A citizen who works in the municipality accused an Egyptian expat of insulting him while on duty at Qurtuba municipality branch. The citizen went to Surra police station and filed a complaint.

Kuwaiti questioned

A citizen was sent to criminal detectives for questioning on arrival at Nuwaiseeb border crossing, after officers found he left the country on Oct 21 despite a travel ban on him since August. He is being questioned to find out who helped him leave. - Al-Rai
